Opportunist Conservative Guarantees NDP Win

BC Conservatives, under the new abandon everything you stood for leader John Rustad has attracted much public support and a few MLAs that also abandoned what they stood for an crossed the floor to join him.
Of course with the sheer number of people now believing the words conservative and good mean the same thing, has sucked support from BC United and split the so called Free Enterprise Coalition, which almost guarnatees another NDP term. BC United foolishly changed it's name from BC Liberals believing most people think liberal is a bad word.

The rallying cry of the federal Conservatives "Axe the Tax" has been taken up, even though all of the current members were in the previous govt that introduced the first carbon tax in Canada, long before Trudeau. They've also done 180 degree reversals on drug and safe supply issues, LBGTQ policies and worse, Rustad who represents a riding with a huge Native population, on Native issues.
Crying shame they've 100% adopted the populist bawling over 'wokeness' and gut issues and failed to put forward any solutions to actual political ones.
Being a swing back and forth voter over the last 35 years, I see no issues that would make me want to be rid of David Eby and the NDP and vote for a worse alternative, especially one presenting itself as exactly that, one willing to destroy any real choice.

The clown show that is the BC Conservatives are riding high on the wave of PP populism and have manage to shit the bed in spit of this. I really gotta hand it to them on being this incompetent. Dong Ford and Scott Moe would be jealous of the low bar being set here.

I happen to be in Rustad's riding. Though I was never his supporter, he WAS pretty good with native affairs and with forestry, so much so Horgan's NDP put him in charge during the big fire season a few years back. Had no real issues with him in the past.
I was a supporter of the previous BC Liberal MLA who when booted from caucus ran as an Independent to allow Rustad to win the riding again for the BC Liberals. But this crass opportunism of reviving a dead BC Conservative Party to ride on the populism of the federal party is shameful. Just like Gordon Campbell did 30 years ago when he and the old Socreds saw the rising popularity of the BC Liberals, invaded and stole the party from under them. They steered the Liberals a little more right of center.
These fools are steering the BC Conservatives right of their even more right of center position, riding the wave of populism that feeds on distrust, division, defeatism and outright hatred. I'll be working to see he loses his seat come election time.

Saw a TV interview and his big talking point was how he would defend our children by banning trans kids from school sport competitions.
Like there are just so many trans kids in our public schools.... millions and millions and they're flooding across the border ayee yahhh!!!
Like promise something useful like hire more teachers or get rid of the portables in Surrey!

The bum is bombarding Facebook with the same Axe The Tax and no climate alternative as PP's using. Blaming BC United for it, which won't hurt the NDP at all.

I live on the North Coast and I do plan to vote NDP in the next provincial election. Our MLA is stepping down and we'll have a new candidate running for our riding. I'm really happy that the Conservatives are splitting the right wing vote. I agree, they will all but ensure that the NDP win again.

I was a great supporter of Nathan Cullen when he was our federal MP. He would have doubled the seats if they'd chosen him as leader. Clear, honest, well spoken. Fit with the Jack Layton style.

Provincially I'll do everything to make sure Rustad is ousted. I could tolerate even say good things about him before, but no more. He's pandering to the Bible thumpers, the anti-vaxxers and the local rednecks for support and trashing the sane and thinking a new McDonalds on the main drag in his home town of shuttered businesses is progress.

So the BC Conservatives are now talking about 'fixing' the medical crisis by allowing more private services. True colours are showing now.
Meanwhile BC United (formerly BC Liberals) are now offering no BC taxes on te first $50,000 of income.
Opposition parties somehow think they can cut their revenue streams and NOT reduce services....
