AUTO fallout hits Canada

Post by testerone »

Because the Dodge Hornet is built in Milan, Italy it is now hit with Trump's 25% tariff. They have stopped produbtion of the 2026 model because of this.
The unfortunate part of this is that even though there is no such tariff in Canada, we're only 10% of the US car market so Stellantis has decided we're not worth bothering with.
So the three people actually saving up for a 2026 rebadged AlfaRomeo will miss out buying an overpriced SUV from the most unreliable maker at their local dealer of the least reputable cars.

Given that GM, VW and Kia will be selling cheaper EV SUVs in North America, that unreliable (but fun!) would never sell.

I nearly bought an Alpha 2C for cheap, but if it never runs it's not a good deal. They are notorious shop queens.

But a Geely o7 with 1200HP in a 2 door sedan for half that price? Who wouldn't?

Cheaper EVs?
Throwing tariffs around just offers the opportunity to raise their prices too and make more profit.
Just as offering rebates to the customers did nothing to cause makers to lower their prices.
