He seems like a lock for the leadership but he is JT 2.0 and that will not sway red tories that the liberals need nor will the left fall in line behind Carney as all he is offering is austerity. They will abstain or vote NDP/Green but not focused so their vote share will collapse.

Freeland is DOA, she cut bait far too late to make a difference. Even though her staff are better she can never be seen as a change candidate. Carney french will be bumpy but good enough to get a pass but unless he can offer something innovative and game changing during the campaign he may win the leadership but will still be in 4th place where it counts. The Bloc are going to eat his lunch in Quebec and Ontario will not rally to a loser.
