Germany should stop reacting and start announcing. Berlin’s answer to Leipzig must be a published escalation ladder, stated in advance and in writing, so that Moscow knows exactly what each proven attack will cost before it sends the next drone.
The first costs Russia every intelligence officer in Germany, declared or not. The second unlocks Taurus for Kyiv. The third seizes the frozen assets outright rather than politely harvesting the interest. The fourth invites Article 4 consultations and a NATO response. No exemptions, no review panels, no second thoughts.
Berlin can afford this because Russia is not a problem for NATO, and Moscow knows it better than Berlin does. Before the war the Russian military amounted to roughly one fifteenth of the alliance’s capacity. Today, after four and a half years bleeding out in Ukraine, it is a starving lion with the hyenas already circling, still dangerous to whatever wanders too close but no longer master of anything.
That is the enemy Germany answered with a closed consulate. Deterrence is not a mood, it is a schedule.

The Skies Over Russia Just Got Interesting.
Zelensky has done something rather magnificent here, which is to declare Russian airspace unsafe with the cheerful politeness of a man telling you the restaurant you booked has a rat problem. He is not threatening a single civilian aircraft, you understand. Heavens no.
There will simply be an enormous number of drones up there, and physics will do the rest.
The genius is in the audience. This is not a message for the Kremlin, it is a memo to every airline accountant and insurance underwriter still pretending that flights into Moscow are a normal commercial proposition. Insurers do not care about ideology. They care about actuarial tables, and those tables just caught fire.
Russia started a war and exported it by missile and drone across a border. Now the war is coming home to its departure lounges, and no amount of Kremlin silence will reroute it.
Having drones loiter in civilian airspace round the clock is the same as blockading a port with ships. Emergency flights only if that and cheaper than bombing cities.
