OMG a guy just showed up at my door at 8 pm wanting to know how to make his computer let him type things.
He's been typing out 30 years of recipes from handwritten notes and just told me he doesn't save them. How do I do that? Why would I do that? I printed them on the printer.......

Unfortunately for him, me being a callous dink, I told him I would not go over to his house and show him right fucking now. And definitely not after 9 PM tomorrow (Friday). Or Sat at that time either.

Give him an etch a sketch and he can take photos of it.

I have learned that no good deed goes unpunished in IT support. Haha. People have no problems at all inconveniencing you. I've stopped offering IT support unless it's for family members.

Even some family take advantage of it.

I eventually went to the guys house and reinstalled LibeOffice (his kid uninstalled it for some oddball thing their churchies use) and showed him (again) how to name his recipes and save them in a recipes folder in documents.
He carried on like I was some sort of bloody computer genius...

Also showed him he could just lay the recipe on the flatbed and just press COPY.
OCR software would be as alien as AI to him. As wold changing the keyboard to Portugese so he could message his relatives.

Give him Dragon Dictate and he'll have the demon exorcised.
