Panama doesn't have enough water to operate the canal at full capacity because of climate change induced drought.
And Ukraine shows how the US stands behind its agreements, like the one returning control of the canal back to Panama.

He's using the same reasoning as his hero Putin.
It was historically US territory
It's vital to the US Navy
We "gave" it to you. That gives us the right to take it back.
Not even President yet, destroys any trust that the USA is a credible ally acts like Dictator of the World.
