Concur, we need to pay representatives more than a manager at McDonalds. It needs to be indexed to inflation and they should NOT be voting on their own raises it needs to be arms length. Otherwise, we are just inviting corruption to be rampant.

I get a raise when I meet production expectations and improve my skills that lets the company charge more for my labour.
Have they met expectations and improved their skills? Are they more valuable to Canada as a result? Politicians should have to earn minimum wage, then they'd care more about what that is.

I don't support that but I do support that they should be using public services. Transit, healthcare and education for example.

I wouldn't even mind tax free, or a housing allowance to live in Ottawa.
But minimum wage was originally meant for a person to live on, providing for one spouse and one child, and be able to afford a car and house.
Now, that is impossible, as business has perpetuated the lie that only teenagers earn minimum wage. But people used to raise families while working as shoe salesmen or waiters. If a person can't live like that now, it's a failure of capitalism. Things are too expensive, or wages are too low.
