This video features Mario Canseco, president of Research Co., discussing a recent poll regarding the political climate in British Columbia. The poll, conducted from August 12-14, indicates that the B.C. NDP currently holds a five-point lead over the B.C. Conservatives (0:00-0:05).
Key takeaways from the discussion:
Conservatives' Stagnation: The B.C. Conservatives under Caroline Finley have struggled to gain momentum, with their numbers dropping, particularly among voters aged 55 and older (0:07-0:23, 2:20-2:25). Canseco notes that Finley's disapproval rating (46%) is significantly higher than that of David Eby (0:59-1:23).
NDP Position: The B.C. NDP has not necessarily surged, but has maintained its position as the Conservatives have lost ground (0:37-0:51). The party faces challenges regarding the economy, housing, and healthcare, but continues to benefit from voters choosing them over the current conservative alternative (3:56-4:16, 5:44-6:07).
Minor Parties: The Greens, led by Emily Loen, are connecting well with younger demographics but lack a full slate of candidates (1:26-2:03). Center BC, led by Mike Bernier, is polling at 5% and shows some potential for growth if they can organize at the riding level (4:37-5:32).
Strategic Outlook: Canseco emphasizes that for all parties, the keys to success involve better organization, running a full slate of candidates, and connecting with voters on "bread and butter" issues like the economy and housing rather than culture wars (3:12-3:37, 6:16-6:51).
This is her high water mark.

BREAKING (1/5): MLA Ian Paton (Delta South) has quit the BC Conservative Party and will sit as an Independent. Three weeks ago, Paton was one of three Conservative MLAs approached by party leadership about stepping aside for leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay. #bcpoli #cdnpoli
2/5) It’s expected Paton will join former caucus colleague Peter Milobar and build a new party? Official party status in the BC legislature takes two MLAs. It unlocks funding for research and staff. #bcpoli #cdnpoli
(3/5) Last week, finance critic Peter Milobar left the BC Conservative caucus to sit as an Independent, saying his values no longer align with Findlay's. Do other Conservative MLAs follow Paton and Milobar out the door? #bcpoli #cdnpoli
(4/5) The other big question: has Findlay's hard-right faith, family, freedom pitch lit the fuse on a new centrist free enterprise party in BC? #bcpoli #cdnpoli
(5/5) Recent polling shows most British Columbians think the province is on the wrong track, yet the NDP still leads. Meaning, many voters aren't sold on the NDP or the BC Conservatives. That's a potential opening for a new party. #bcpoli #cdnpoli

Why do Conservatives pick such disgusting leaders their own representatives can't support these days?
They have a history of stabbing them in the back over losing one election and now they doubledown on failure after failure.

NEW: Randy Hawes, president of Reann Gasper’s riding association, has quit the BC Conservatives. Says Kerry-Lynne Findlay asked MLAs to give up their seats for her, but not her husband, the MLA for Surrey South. Hawes is a former BC Liberal MLA and Mission mayor. #bcpoli
