On the plus we dodged a bullet like in 2003 on the minus we couldn't do shit anyway.

Why would we want to? The more the Strait of Hormuz is blocked, the more money we make.

Using our boats as mine detectors does not benefit us. Besides, after disparaging our contributions in Afghanistan and calling Carney 'Governor', does he really expect our help now?

Ottawa outlines criteria for helping Gulf nations hit by Iran war
- Needs on the ground — Canada will only act if partners formally request help.
- Legal and policy frameworks — any action must comply with Canadian and international law.
- Consultation with allies — Canada will coordinate with partners before committing.

What Kind of Help Canada Is Considering
🔹 1. Unblocking fuel shipments
Ottawa is looking at ways to help reopen supply routes disrupted by Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil and LNG.
🔹 2. Assisting Gulf states with defence
Defence Minister David McGuinty said Canada is considering helping Gulf neighbours defend themselves if they request support through NATO.

What Canada Will Not Do
- No participation in U.S. or Israeli strikes
- No direct military engagement in Iran
- No unilateral action without allies

Canada’s Diplomatic Position
🔹 Canada wants:
- A diplomatic off‑ramp to end the conflict
- A moratorium on attacks on civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas sites
- The free flow of commerce to stabilize global energy markets
🔹 Canada also condemned:
- Iran’s execution of a Swedish citizen
- Iran’s missile and drone attacks on Gulf energy facilities, including a major LNG complex in Qatar

NATO depends upon the US to run. Therefore Rutte has to dance with the partner he came with and that means whatever pedo shitler says for headlines. Carney said no in the correct tone and commitments. The framework is there and the options offered by the US are not tenable forcing Ukraine to get Saudi funding over EU. EU plan of supporting Ukraine via US weapon shipments is a Russian trojan horse.

Correction:
NATO depended on the US stockpile of nuclear weapons.
With the sorry ass performance of Russia in Ukraine, it doesn't anymore. The other members can handle incursions, and ao long as all leaders comprehend the economic damage just ONE nuke can inflict on a country, rely on the mere hundreds of nukes Britain and France have. And it looks like Poland will add to those soon.
